Finding it hard to sleep?
Common causes of insomnia include stress, anxiety, too much noise at night, your bedroom being too hot or too cold and drinks containing caffeine.
Quick sleep techniques include:
- Keeping a consistent sleep schedule
- Set a bedtime that is early enough for you to get at least 7 hours of sleep
- Don’t go to bed unless you are sleepy
- If you don’t fall asleep after 20 minutes, get out of bed
- Establish a relaxing bedtime routine (e.g., shower, read, brush teeth)
- Use your bed only for sleep and sex
- Avoid afternoon naps if it makes it difficult to fall asleep at bedtime
Hypnotherapy For Insomnia
Hypnotherapy is another treatment option that many people find effective.
Hypnotherapy for insomnia can tackle potential causes while helping you to relax and drop off to sleep. For example, if anxiety or depression is the source of your insomnia, hypnotherapy to treat the underlying causes would greatly help with insomnia and could then also be used to help with sleep.
Alternatively, if a habit is causing your insomnia (such as alcohol) hypnotherapy can be used to break this habit.
Hypnotherapy for insomnia can be useful if you are unsure why you are having difficulties sleeping. We tap into your subconscious mind to uncover what may have triggered the problem. For example, I had one client who had no idea why she couldn’t sleep soundly, once having hypnotherapy and resolving some issues she had with her late father, she found she could then sleep much better.
When suffering from insomnia for a long period of time, the patterns of sleep disturbances can become embedded in your subconscious. Hypnosis for insomnia aims to communicate with this and suggest positive changes. These suggestions will look to break the negative thought patterns causing the problem.
An important part of hypnotherapy for insomnia is teaching you how to relax. For some people, physical or mental tension can make sleeping difficult. I often teach people self-hypnosis which can help you to develop a routine, as well as learn how to deal with your triggers causing the problem.
