How does hypnotherapy work for phobias?
Phobias affect our minds on a subconscious level. Despite telling ourselves that a certain situation, object or feeling isn’t life threatening, our body still reacts as though it is.
This causes those suffering with phobias to feel overwhelmed and/ or panicked in these scenarios.
Phobias hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind to rewire the way you think and feel towards the trigger of your phobia. In a hypnotherapy session, through music, guided meditation or relaxation techniques, your mind will be eased into a relaxed state.
And unlike what you may see on TV or films, you will always be in control during your hypnosis. You won’t be ‘hypnotised’ or unaware of your actions, rather in a more relaxed and receptive state. This will allow us to speak directly to the subconscious mind.
Here, we can begin to create new pathways in the mind, creating new ways of thinking about your phobia. Gradually, you will begin to confront your phobia and feel more comfortable when thinking about your trigger.
Alongside phobias, hypnotherapy is an effective way to treat many conditions, such as anxiety, depression and lack of confidence.
